If you are 70 ½ years or older, you might consider this easy way to participate: Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to OWU and realize these benefits:
- It’s easy and one of the most tax-efficient ways to support OWU.
- You pay no income tax on the gift and you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
- Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.
- OWU will receive 100% of your IRA gift, unlike the after-tax amount you or non-spousal heirs will receive!
